Hello Wealthy Web Writers!

My name is Jim Wright, and I’m thrilled to be one of your new Reality Bloggers.

Accepting the challenge to become one of your newest Reality Bloggers is exciting and terrifying all at the same time, but I’m really looking forward to this experience. While I’m confident this will be a great learning experience for me, I’m truly hoping it will be even more so for you.

In the spirit of Web 2.0, I’m hoping this blog will be interactive. The more I interact with other writers, the more I realize that many of us face the same fears, struggles, questions, and run into the same roadblocks. I hope the interactive nature of this blog will be a great help and an inspiration to all of us!

A Little Introduction

Although I’ve had an interest in writing ever since I can remember, it’s taken me quite a while to finally make it a priority. I’ve spent most of my life as a musician (drummer and singer), and have also worked in radio broadcasting, and currently teach electronics part-time at a local community college.

Some quirky facts about me: I have walked on the Great Wall of China (amazing!), crash landed an airplane (not as glamorous as it sounds), and played a game of chess against Boris Spassky (and lost convincingly!).

I live in Perth, Ontario, Canada, with my wife Cindy, and kids Max (5) and Madeleine (3). The ability to be able to spend more quality time with my family is one of the main reasons I’m finally pursuing the writer’s life.

Although I’ve been an AWAI member since 2009, it’s really just in the last little while that I’ve started to take this more seriously, and apply myself. I’m starting down this road without the benefit of a wealth of experience as a writer, without an English degree, and without the benefit of a large metropolitan city (Perth is a small town of 6,000 people).

What I do have is a renewed desire to learn, to write, to succeed, and I’m thankful for the wonderful and supportive community I’ve found here at AWAI and the Wealthy Web Writer.

Where I Am Right Now

I would describe myself as being at the beginning of my writing career. I have a freelance website which I completed following the “Build Your Freelance Website in Four Days” webinar series, and you can see it here.

I have also taken Nick Usborne’s How to Write Your Own Money-Making Websites program, and although it still needs lots of content, you can see my site here.

I have published one article on the Wealthy Web Writer which you can read here, and I’ve also published two 3-Minute Guru videos as well, also on the Wealthy Web Writer site.

I am doing some work in social media, maintaining Facebook pages and Twitter accounts for two clients.

I’m pledging to make 2013 my year (and I hope you’ll join me)!

    • Hi Christina,
Thanks for the comment and the kind words!
I’m looking forward to reading your posts (and Marianne’s) too!
Should be a fun and instructive year.
      Cheers and thanks,

  • Hi Jim,
You already think like a business man! Depending only on Facebook and other social media sites for your business leaves you vulnerable, is a good business point! I’m looking forward to reading more wisdom from you.

    To your success in 2013!

  • Hi Jim! Good luck to you on your goals this year!

I checked out the sites you listed and I really liked your Learn Electronics Online site! Very interesting ideas there. I’d love to hear how that’s going with visitors and such, and look forward to seeing how you plan to monetize it eventually.

Thanks for sharing your experiences in the reality Blog! I’m just getting started in this myself, so look forward to reading more!

    John Mullen

    • Hi John,

Thanks for the comments and the good wishes!

Welcome aboard, and good luck to you too!

  • Welcome Jim! Looking forward to seeing you achieve all of your goals this year and reading your story as you do.

And believe it or not – I’ve been to Perth. The day after a 30cm snow. A bit of a shock for this warm weather gal but it was a nice, friendly place!

    • Hi Charlotte,

      Thank you!

Yes, there are better times to visit Perth than after a foot of snow, but even then, it is a very nice place!

      Thanks again for the comment!
