I’m goal oriented.
I wouldn’t have said that three months ago…
If you spend any time around children, you may have heard of a video game called Minecraft. Players create a block-shaped character and move around a block-shaped world, building block-shaped things.
For reasons I just can’t comprehend, kids love that game… mine are no exception.
One day a couple of months ago, upon being begged relentlessly to play Minecraft with them, I made a discovery. I was throwing out my usual responses: I’d rather play something else. I’m no good at it. I don’t know what I’m supposed to do.
Then out of my mouth pops, ”I need a goal.”
It was a revelation… as if I was discovering this for the very first time. If I can’t even play a game without a goal, how can I build a business without one?
Enter Lego Marvel Superheroes. There are 250 gold bricks (bricks are Lego pieces) hidden in this game. You have to accomplish specific things to earn them.
I love finding gold bricks. I open the map, which shows where they are, and set my destination. The little red ghost figure guides me to each one… a virtual ghost-Lego GPS. Once there, it takes some problem solving to earn it. Every one we earn brings us one step closer to our goal… getting all 250.
