The Reality Blog: How To Find Extra Time In Your Work Day

Dear Web Writer,

Technically, I’m on maternity leave right now and shouldn’t be working. But, whether my days are filled with copy projects or baby duties, I constantly run into the same problem:

There just aren’t enough minutes in the day!

I figure I have two options:

  1. Become a vampire and give up sleeping (confession: I’m a Twilight junkie!)
  2. Come up with new ways to maximize the time I have

I hate that option #1 isn’t a real option, so I’m pretty much confined to option #2.

  • Thanks for some interesting tips. I’m having trouble getting organized as I’m helping my daughter with her new baby while her husband is on deployment. She’s a fussy one and I’m thousands of miles from home! The three goals per day sounds comforting, and so does outsourcing. All of my strategies for life at home just don’t work here!

      • How wonderful that you’re getting to spend time with your granddaughter, and how lucky for your daughter to have you. I can certainly relate to not being able to get things done when you’re out of your own “home zone” — I feel the same way even when I have people come stay with me, just because it makes for a different balance. Going with just a few goals at a time — and sometimes even only one per day — is helping me get back into the swing of things. I wish you luck!
