My sweet little girl, Calla, is here at last. She debuted last week in the wildest labor experience imaginable.
Of course, it was joyous. Of course I learned a lot from it. And of course, I’m going to relate that experience to web writing! Here’s how.
Not A Minute To Spare
Pretty much everybody knows childbirth is unpredictable. So, aside from planning to use hypnosis again and hoping for a successful water-birth, Craig and I were happy to sit back and just wait for whatever happened.
The only thing we knew for sure was that this baby would come faster than our first baby. That birth experience took about eight hours.
Fast-forward to the morning of Calla’s birth. It went something like this:
6:00 a.m. – water broke
7:00 a.m. – contractions started
8:05 a.m. – dropped Quinn off at school on our way to the birthing center
8:20 a.m. – arrived at birthing center
8:26 a.m. – Calla shot out like a rocket in the birth tub
Needless to say, her birth was nothing like we imagined. Nor was it anything I ever could have dreamed up. And I’m pretty sure we couldn’t have cut it any closer..
