Try Out Gmail Labs to Enhance Your Gmail User Experience
Gmail Labs is the “playground” area of Gmail, where Google puts new Gmail features for you to try-out.
Think of it as a beta testing ground for these new features that may just end up being part of Gmail in the future (just like Undo Send).
Many Gmail users don’t make full use of these Lab features. Actually, many may not even know that Gmail Labs even exists!
Let’s take a look at Gmail Labs and a few of the features that will level up your web mail experience.
What is Gmail Labs and where can I find it?
Gmail Labs lets users try-out experimental Gmail features before they are released to all users. They’re completely optional to use, so if you’re not feeling adventurous, you can ignore the Labs and carry on as you like.
But if you’re looking to really take control of your Gmail inbox and add some new functionality to it, keep reading.
Warning: Before you try any of these options, remember that all the features in Gmail Labs are experimental and not fully tested out. That means they could go haywire, they may be changed without notice, or even discontinued. Install at your own risk.
Where is Gmail Labs?
Gmail Labs hides in your Settings:
- Click the Settings gear icon in your inbox.
- Choose Settings in the drop-down menu.
- Click Labs. The Gmail Labs tab is now open.
When you first open Labs, none of the features are enabled, so they’re all under the Available Labs heading. Once you start enabling them, the list is divided in two, Enabled Labs and Available Labs:
