Reality Blog: Growing Our Email List… False Starts, Encouraging Signs, and a Plan

Writing ideas on post-it notes

My goal as 2020 Reality Blogger is to build an email list of at least 1,000 subscribers.

With the first quarter of the year gone, it’s time to check in and give you a progress update. What’s working and what isn’t? Where do we go from here?

A Slow Start

My original plan was to promote affiliate products with a series of ongoing email marketing campaigns. This is why I wanted to focus on building my email list. Creating email campaigns is well and good, but only if you have a reasonable-sized email list.

This plan hasn’t really worked out so far.

As I explained in an earlier post, affiliate marketing has been super-frustrating. High on promise and false starts… but low on results.

I’ve spent much of the first quarter juggling ideas on how to make affiliate marketing work for us, and looking at alternative ways to earn passive income. Some are wild and whacky, others have merit.

My point? If I promote existing affiliates via email marketing, I’m unlikely to see a worthwhile return.

How do I know this?
