Make Massive Progress with a Goal Tree

If your dreams do not scare you, they are not big enough.” — Ellen Johnson Surleaf (Africa’s first female President)

The path to success begins with big goals and dreams. It begins with a vision of what your life could be, what you want it to be.

It begins with a seed. An idea. It grows into a wish… a goal… and hopefully into a plan.

But what if your dreams scare you too much? To the point where the fear keeps you from moving forward?

What if they seem unattainable, too big, too far away from where you are? What then?

Most successful people have felt that way at one time or another. The road ahead is so long, the journey so far. It’s easy to feel doubt about making it all the way there.

I know how you feel.

I didn’t have a website or a niche. I didn’t have samples or a single client. Becoming a full-time writer with paying clients seemed extremely far away. Scary far.

There were days when I felt too intimidated to take any steps at all. Why bother? I’d never get there.

When you’re stuck in a mindset like that, it’s hard to get moving. It’s hard to make progress.

But then I created what I call a “Goal Tree.”

What’s a Goal Tree?

A Goal Tree takes your biggest goal, that massive dream, and breaks it into “branches” or smaller goals.

  • Nice idea! I like the family tree because it’s so visual. Often a visual reference makes a bigger inner impression. Thanks!
