Reality Blog: Good Enough for Government Work

Working from anywhere, even the floor

When I was little, we always knew when my grandpa was coming because he’d replaced the wrecked driver’s door of his rusty green pickup with a cream-colored one. It made his truck stick out like a sore thumb.

If anybody asked him about that, or any of the thousand other haywire “fixes” on the ranch, he’d just shrug and say, “It’s good enough for government work.”

In Grandpa’s book, that meant, “It may be held together with duct tape and prayer, but it’ll work while I get something else done.”

An Update on My 21-Day Challenge

So, with that artfully executed bit of foreshadowing out of the way, it’s time for an update on the progress I’m making on my challenges. Funny thing about working in 21-day increments, every 22nd day, you’re done whether you want to be or not!

Every time I start a new challenge, big or small, I think, This time it’ll work exactly how I envision it.

It never does, of course. No matter how carefully I plot, by the end something is always different from what I envisioned. For a long time, that’s felt like a failure ghost that never lets me be — much less feel — good enough.

  • Just what I needed to read this morning! The life of writing and building a business that actually makes you financially stronger can be, well, very overwhelming and exciting and challenging. Some days it is just all way too much for me to keep track of. So, this 21 day challenge system is just the ingredient needed to “let go” since it is written on this piece of nice white paper taped to my wall right in front of me – no more “oh my gosh, where am I with all of this”. Just keep the focus and move to the next step. Above all, remember, success is the ability to live my life on my own terms. Thanks Suzanna for making my morning a success – already! Cynde
