When I was little, we always knew when my grandpa was coming because he’d replaced the wrecked driver’s door of his rusty green pickup with a cream-colored one. It made his truck stick out like a sore thumb.
If anybody asked him about that, or any of the thousand other haywire “fixes” on the ranch, he’d just shrug and say, “It’s good enough for government work.”
In Grandpa’s book, that meant, “It may be held together with duct tape and prayer, but it’ll work while I get something else done.”
An Update on My 21-Day Challenge
So, with that artfully executed bit of foreshadowing out of the way, it’s time for an update on the progress I’m making on my challenges. Funny thing about working in 21-day increments, every 22nd day, you’re done whether you want to be or not!
Every time I start a new challenge, big or small, I think, This time it’ll work exactly how I envision it.
It never does, of course. No matter how carefully I plot, by the end something is always different from what I envisioned. For a long time, that’s felt like a failure ghost that never lets me be — much less feel — good enough.
