  • making choices about what to include and what to leave out
  • why topically adjacent books sometimes result in the best reviews

  • A few books you might consider for our Book Challenge:
    Everybody Writes by Ann Handley
Anything by Seth Godin (Anything is not the title… Seth has a number of worthwhile books)
How to Write Seductive Web Copy by Henneke Duistermaat
The Copywriter’s Handbook by Bob Bly
The Well Fed Writer by Peter Bowerman
    On Writing by Stephen King
Made to Stick by Chip Heath and Dan Heath

This is not an exhaustive list… and you could also have fun reviewing a pop psychology or self help book and connecting it to web writing or reviewing a memoir and connecting it to web writing.

  • Hi Heather, This was heavy duty but I’m thinking I’d like to give it a try. I have 2 of the books you mentioned and either haven’t read or I need to reread them. I’m not a great reader but have entered that reading world more in the last 7 or 8 years. I realize the value of it. I’ll see you on October 2nd should I succeed in this adventure! Have a great day! Wanda

  • Hi Heather,

Quick question – can we submit more than one entry? Or are members limited to just one entry?

Like, for example, if I can’t pick between two books and I want to write a book review for both of them… would you accept both entries or would doing that somehow disqualify me from the challenge?

    Thanks in advance for responding!

    • Hi Lynelle,

Great question. And one I wish I had thought of. I’m going to limit it to one entry per member… but, you are always welcome to submit ideas to me for the site, including book reviews 🙂

      • Got this, Heather!

I was initially choosing between 3 books, but I recently thought of a solid idea for one of them.

So I’ll go with that. 🙂

Thank you for your answer and I’m excited to submit my entry!

        All my best,
